Ten people sent to hospital after ship fire in Køge

Following a ship fire in Køge Harbor on Tuesday evening, ten people were sent for examination at Køge Hospital. This happened after instructions from the Midt- and Vestsjællands police, who urged citizens experiencing discomfort from the smoke to first contact the doctor on call at 1818 before heading to the hospital. Police and health authorities were quick to respond to the situation to ensure that the hospital’s resources were used efficiently and only for those who needed it most. “We strongly urge people not to visit Køge Hospital without prior appointment with the doctor on call,” said the police. The press office at Zealand University Hospital confirmed that none of the ten people examined needed to be hospitalized. However, it is unclear if all ten had contacted the doctor on call, as recommended, before showing up at the hospital. This incident highlights the importance of correct procedures in emergencies and effective communication between the public and emergency services to avoid unnecessary strain on the healthcare system. It is a reminder that cooperation and compliance with instructions are essential in crisis situations to ensure both efficiency and safety.
