Copenhagen Partially Closed Over Weekend After Børsen Fire: Police

Copenhagen will remain partially closed over the weekend following a fire at Børsen (The Stock Exchange). The Copenhagen Police have announced that the current closures around Børsen in the city center will remain in place until Monday morning at 6 am. This decision comes in the wake of a serious fire that broke out in the historic stock exchange building on Tuesday morning.

The closures primarily affect Vindebrogade, Børsgade, and Slotsholmsgade. In Vindebrogade, the closure extends from Holmens Kanal over Holmens Bro to Christiansborg Slotsplads, then continuing over Stormbroen. The fire has caused extensive traffic challenges in the city center, and since the outbreak of the fire, the police have urged motorists to avoid the area and instead use alternative routes such as the Sjællandsbroen or the nearby motorways.

While the majority of closures are expected to be removed on Monday morning, a few closer to the stock exchange building will remain for an indefinite period. The police emphasize that these ongoing closures depend on the progress of securing and renovating Børsen.

Citizens who have parked their vehicles within the restricted zones are encouraged to contact the police for assistance in moving their vehicles. The police have set up a command post at the Rytterstatuen (The Equestrian Statue) on Christiansborg Slotsplads, and it is also from there that the Home Guard has assisted in retrieving bicycles for owners who have been unable to reach their transportation due to the closures.

This situation has caused significant inconvenience for many residents and visitors in the capital, and authorities are working tirelessly to reopen the city as quickly and safely as possible.
