Hydraulic Scissor Incident Causes Safety Concerns in Central Copenhagen

In a dramatic incident earlier today, a heavy hydraulic scissor fell between the Børsen (The Stock Exchange) and a nearby scaffold, creating major challenges for the Capital Region’s Emergency Services. The scissor, which broke free from a crane during work on the building, is now stuck at a height of several meters, and all attempts to remove it have been abandoned. Incident Commander Tim Ole Simonsen from the Capital Region’s Emergency Services explained the situation at a press conference Friday evening. “We have tried using a crane to reach it. It has been a complex operation, as we have not been able to have personnel around the scissor for safety reasons,” he said.

Despite the failed attempts to remove the scissor, work on cutting down the scaffold will continue. This is done with the understanding that the scissor will eventually come loose. “We do this knowing that the scissor will likely come loose at some point on that floor,” added Simonsen. The situation has not resulted in any injuries, but it has raised concerns about safety in the area. Emergency Services will continue to monitor the situation closely and take necessary precautions to ensure the safety of both workers and passersby. It is still unclear how and when the scissor can be safely removed, or what long-term consequences this will have for the construction project at Børsen.
