The incoming leader, who takes over after the tragic death of Søren Pape Poulsen earlier this year, emphasizes that her path to the leadership position has not been marked by ambitions for the role, but rather a sudden necessity and a great responsibility that falls on her shoulders under dramatic circumstances. “I had not imagined that it would happen in this extremely violent way,” Mona Juul told Berlingske.
As part of her vision for the party, Juul aims to strengthen the Defense and would like to see more funds allocated for this purpose. In the family policy area, she proposes economic initiatives to give families better opportunities to reduce working hours when necessary. In terms of environmental policy, Juul proposes the establishment of a state fund that would acquire agricultural land to promote more sustainable use of the land. Additionally, she criticizes the current government’s efforts against oxygen depletion in the seas, which she deems insufficient.
