It seems that this spring is staying cooler for longer than usual this year, and the Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI) is now warning of the risk of icy roads due to persistent night frost. Meteorologists are urging drivers to be extra cautious, especially in the morning hours. According to DMI’s on-duty meteorologist, Klaus Larsen, the temperature will be below freezing on several mornings this week, which could lead to freezing wet roads or frost. “There will be some rain during the week, and in combination with frost, it can get slippery,” he says, adding that it’s wise to reduce speed and pay attention to road conditions.
The temperature is expected to stay below ten degrees most of the week, but towards the weekend, there may be a slight increase. “We are seeing a gradual warming, and the temperature can reach around ten degrees in the middle of the week, thanks to a low-pressure system from the British Virgin Islands moving towards Denmark,” explains Klaus Larsen. Despite the warmer temperatures mid-week, night frost will still be a prominent phenomenon, and it’s only during the weekend that we can truly say goodbye to the cold nights for now.
DMI’s forecasts indicate that the weather will become more varied with periods of clouds and rain, and there may even be a few hail showers. Monday morning could even see snowfall in the southeastern parts of the country. Drivers are urged to closely follow the weather forecast and adjust their driving according to the conditions. It is important to be prepared for roads that may be icier than expected, especially in the early morning hours.
