The Capital Region’s Emergency Preparedness (Hovedstadens Beredskab) has officially concluded their operation at the historic Børsen building in Copenhagen, handing over the site to the police and craftsmen. This comes after a period of intensive securing and stabilizing of the building as part of the investigation into a fire that previously ravaged the building. Emergency Preparedness Director Jakob Vedsted Andersen announced at a press briefing Monday morning that the police will now have easier access to examine the burnt part of the building. “We have reached a point where the building is stable enough for the police to start their investigation inside,” explained Andersen. Although there is still no conclusion about the cause of the fire, the police have already conducted preliminary investigations on site. Andersen added that the emergency preparedness will continue to have fire guards on site, but the primary work will now be handed over to the contractors, who will begin removing the scaffolding and further securing the building at dawn. “We are transitioning from a crime scene to a construction site,” said Andersen.
The handover marks a new phase in the reconstruction of Børsen, where the Danish Chamber of Commerce (Dansk Erhverv) and their advisors will take over and continue the work of restoring and securing the iconic building’s future. This development is an important step in the process of bringing Børsen back to its former glory and ensuring that the building can continue to be a central part of Copenhagen’s architectural and cultural heritage.
