Denmark pledges 2.85 billion kroner for Ukraine energy project

In a new initiative to support Ukraine in the war against Russia, Denmark has decided to provide a state guarantee of 2.85 billion Danish kroner for a project aimed at improving the energy supply in the war-torn country. The project, with a total value of four billion kroner, is designed to deliver green and secure electricity to around 500,000 Ukrainian households. This decision comes in response to continued attacks from Russia, which have specifically targeted critical infrastructure in Ukraine.

“We know that Putin is deliberately targeting critical infrastructure. There is a need for stronger defense,” stated Minister of Business Morten Bødskov (S) in a press release issued by the Ministry of Business. The funding for this guarantee will come from the Ukraine Fund, and it is planned that the Danish company Vestas will provide wind turbines that will be central to the construction of the new energy infrastructure.

The details regarding the specific implementation and timeline of the project were previously kept confidential but have now been disclosed in a document released on Tuesday. This initiative is part of Denmark’s broader commitment to supporting Ukraine during the current conflict and demonstrates a continued willingness to contribute to stabilizing the region with sustainable solutions.
