After an intense week with extraordinary emergency response operations at Børsen in Copenhagen, the situation is now stabilized, and the Capital Region Preparedness agency (Hovedstadens Beredskab) is back to normal operations. The fire that broke out on Tuesday, April 16, required a massive effort from the emergency services, but has now subsided to the point where the private damage control company Polygon has taken over the remaining tasks. Operations manager Michael Møller from the Capital Region Preparedness agency explains that they have only been called out for minor re-ignition in the past few days. “We quickly got the last embers under control, and it is no longer an operation that requires our full attention,” he says.
The fire in the historic building at Slotholmsgade 1 led to a temporary restructuring of the emergency services’ daily activities, including a pause in planned exercises. These have now resumed, and the emergency services are operating under normal conditions again. The Børs building is now treated like any other property in the Inner City, and the emergency services will only intervene if new incidents arise that require their expertise. “We are always ready if the situation changes, but right now everything is under control,” concludes Michael Møller.
