The popular Danish Air Show, which was scheduled to take place on June 9 this year at Aalborg Air Base, has been postponed to June 15, 2025. This decision comes just a few weeks before the planned show, which normally attracts over 100,000 visitors. The decision to postpone the event has been made by the military, which, according to press officer Morten Valentin, is facing a resource shortage. “We are in a situation where our barracks and air bases are in need of maintenance, and it requires resources that we must prioritize higher than an air show,” he explained to TV 2 Nord.
The postponement comes at a time when there is political focus on the defense budget. The government recently announced that an additional 40 billion Danish kroner will be allocated to the Defense. This is part of a larger defense agreement where it has been decided that the Defense will receive 155 billion kroner over the next ten years. The air show is known for its spectacular aerial displays and has traditionally been a day where both locals and visitors could experience the aircraft performances up close.
With the postponement, the military hopes to return strongly in 2025 with a show that lives up to the successes of previous years.
