The residents of Corona Camping are facing an uncertain future as Køge Municipality has planned a total clearance of the campsite from November. This step comes after several years of disputes and legal challenges, where the municipality has pointed out repeated violations of the camping regulations. According to the latest reports from Sjællandske Nyheder, residents have been given the summer to find alternative housing before they have to leave the site in the autumn.
The Climate and Planning Committee in Køge Municipality has set a schedule for the legalization of the site, which involves a complete removal of all caravans during the winter months from November 1 to February 28. This decision was made after it was found that there had been “serious and repeated offenses” at the site, leading to the withdrawal of the permit for winter camping. These offenses include, among other things, permanent residency at the campsite, which is contrary to current rules.
Despite several attempts by Corona Camping to redefine the site as a social gathering place, the municipality has rejected all proposals and insists on clearing the site. This has caused great frustration among residents, who feel they are being pushed into a precarious situation with no clear alternatives for the future.
The municipality’s supervision of the site is scheduled for November 1, where they will verify that all caravans have been removed as required in the new schedule. This action marks a critical turning point for both the residents and owners of Corona Camping, who must now face the fact that their time at the site is running out.
