Residents on Fur urged to boil drinking water amid contamination concerns

Residents of Fur are being urged to boil their drinking water after suspicions of contamination from the local water supply. Skive Water Company has issued a clear recommendation to boil the water for at least two minutes before consumption. This precaution comes after a sample from Fur Waterworks showed signs of contamination, causing concern among local authorities and residents on the island. “We have to react to such a sample. It could be a sample error, but we cannot know,” said Ivan Drejer, director of Skive Water Company. Specific bacteria have not yet been identified in the water sample, and it is still unclear what the exact cause of the contamination could be. Skive Water Company has planned further sampling, which will take place on Monday, to determine whether the contamination is persistent or a one-time error. The director has also confirmed that there is close communication with Skive Municipality and relevant health authorities to ensure a quick and effective handling of the situation. Until new test results are available, everyone on Fur is advised to follow the boiling recommendation to minimize the risk of health consequences.
