After a wet start to the week with rain and showers across Denmark, it seems that the spring sun will finally break through the cloud cover. This bodes well for the middle of the week, where Danes can look forward to dry days with milder temperatures. Mette Wagner, the duty meteorologist at the Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI), explains that a low-pressure system has impacted the weather at the beginning of the week, but a high-pressure ridge will stabilize conditions from Tuesday onwards. “During the night to Tuesday, a high-pressure ridge will move in over the country from the west, bringing clearer weather,” she says.
From Tuesday to Thursday, Danes can expect dry conditions with temperatures ranging between 11 and 17 degrees Celsius. Sunscreen and sunglasses will be necessary accessories as the sun will shine from a mostly clear sky. “Tuesday will be dry with some or quite a bit of sun, and we will see the same pattern on Wednesday and most of Thursday,” Wagner adds. The wind will be light to brisk from easterly directions at first but will decrease throughout the day. Wednesday and Thursday will bring light to moderate winds from various directions.
Although Thursday will mostly be sunny, the weather will change again towards the evening. “In the evening, the rainy weather will hit from the west again, and the night will be overcast with a period of rain,” explains Mette Wagner. Friday will start out cloudy with the possibility of some rain and showers, but will clear up from the north during the day. Daytime temperatures will range between 12 and 17 degrees Celsius, slightly cooler along the coasts where there is onshore wind.
So, even though the week starts off wet, there is good news for those longing for sun and dry conditions. Remember sunscreen as you enjoy the upcoming sunny days.
