During the upcoming state visit to Norway, King Frederik and Queen Mary will not only focus on diplomatic relations, but also on environmental awareness and green transition. The royal couple has planned a hike in Østmarka National Park, located east of Oslo, covering an area of around 256 square kilometers. The visit to the national park is part of the official program announced on the royal family’s website. Here, the royal couple, along with the Norwegian Crown Prince couple, will meet young nature talents and guides from the Norwegian Trekking Association, who will introduce them to the area’s unique flora and fauna. Østmarka National Park is an excellent example of how to protect nature and biodiversity while also offering recreational opportunities for the city’s residents. This visit highlights the royal family’s commitment to environmental protection and sustainability.
In addition to the hike, the royal couple’s visit will also include a stop at Oslo Science City, where the focus will be on new technologies such as microchips and quantum technology, and the potential these technologies have for green transition and Danish-Norwegian cooperation. The state visit, taking place on May 14th and 15th, also marks King Frederik and Queen Mary’s first state visit to Norway as a royal couple. This visit comes closely after their state visit to Sweden and is expected to further strengthen Nordic relations, especially in the areas of environment and technology.
