Sygeforsikring Danmark, which serves 2.7 million members, is facing a major digital transformation. As of May 8th, the company has closed all its service channels, including telephone service, digital self-service solutions, and in-person inquiries at their offices. This closure, lasting until May 21st, is due to the implementation of a new IT system. According to the company’s website, it is necessary to shut down operations in order to securely transfer nearly two terabytes of health data to the new system. Allan Luplau, CEO of Sygeforsikring Danmark, emphasizes that this temporary closure is essential to ensure a smooth transition to the new IT system, provided by a new vendor.
“It is a complex operation that requires full focus and no interruptions,” Luplau says in a press release. However, he assures members that no data will be lost during the process. On the other hand, it will not be possible to enroll new members or receive reimbursements during the closure period. Reimbursements that were supposed to be processed during this time will be registered and made available through self-service as soon as the system is up and running again.
Luplau reports that the work on the IT system is progressing better than expected so far, and he predicts that all functions will be back to normal operation after May 21st. Sygeforsikring Danmark offers its members reimbursements for services such as dental visits, glasses, and physiotherapy, making this temporary closure a challenge for many who regularly use these benefits.
