At the University of Copenhagen, a meeting between the university leadership and a group of students from a pro-Palestinian protest camp is scheduled for Monday afternoon. The meeting, organized by the movement Students Against Occupation, will take place at 3:45 pm and will last for 45 minutes. The movement, which has set up a tent camp on the university campus, has sent five representatives, including two Palestinian students, to discuss their concerns with the university’s rector and prorector. However, a specific agenda for the meeting has not been set.
The protest and the subsequent dialogue with the university leadership stem from dissatisfaction with the university’s investment policies, specifically investments in companies with ties to Israel. Students Against Occupation have presented six demands, including a call for full financial transparency and a call for the university to recognize and condemn what they describe as an ongoing genocide of Palestinians. So far, the University of Copenhagen has not met the students’ demands, leading to the establishment of the protest camp and the planned meeting.
It is expected that the meeting will provide clarity on whether a dialogue can be established regarding the students’ demands and concerns.
