In the upcoming Pentecost weekend, passengers who usually use the metro’s lines M3 and M4 will have to find alternative transportation options. The metro company has announced that these two lines will be closed for 41 hours from 3 am on Saturday, May 18 to 8 pm on Sunday, May 19. The closure is due to necessary tests of the new metro extension to Sydhavn and Valby. This extension is a significant expansion of the Copenhagen metro network, which is expected to open to the public on June 22.
When the new stations are open, the metro network will include 44 stations spread over 43 kilometers of track. This will significantly improve public transportation access for thousands of citizens in and around the capital. M3, also known as the City Circle, and M4, which shares tracks with the City Circle in the Inner City and continues to Nordhavn and Orientkaj, will both be affected by this temporary closure.
The metro company encourages passengers to plan their journeys in advance and consider alternative routes during this period. This testing period is crucial to ensure that everything functions as it should before the official opening of the new extension. The metro company apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause but emphasizes the importance of these tests to guarantee the safe and efficient operation of the metro network in the future.
