In a recent speech during a gala dinner at the Norwegian royal palace, King Frederik emphasized the necessity of technological advancements to achieve the ambitious climate goals in the Nordic region by 2030. This statement came in connection with the royal couple’s second official state visit to Norway, where the king shared his vision of a more sustainable future. King Frederik pointed out that if the Nordic countries are to reach their climate goals, significant changes in both behavior and technology are required. He highlighted quantum technology in particular as a crucial factor in the green transition, as well as in the development of new medical solutions and improvement of defense and security.
“But if anyone has the prerequisites to succeed, it’s us,” said King Frederik, referring to the Nordic region as an area with the potential to become the world’s most sustainable and integrated region by 2030. The speech was well-received by those present, underscoring the continued focus that Nordic cooperation has on environmental and technological solutions in the fight against climate change.
