During his visit to Copenhagen on Tuesday, Andriy Yermak, Chief of Staff to the President of Ukraine, expressed hope to soon receive clarity on when Ukraine can expect the delivery of the first Danish F-16 fighter jets. Yermak, who participated in a press conference organized by Anders Fogh Rasmussen’s Alliance of Democracies, emphasized the strong relationship between Denmark and Ukraine. “We value our friendly relations with Denmark highly, and I am confident that the promises made will be fulfilled,” Yermak said during the meeting.
Denmark has previously announced that the first of a total of 19 donated F-16 jets will be transferred to Ukraine during this summer. Preparations are already underway, and Ukrainian pilots are currently undergoing training at Skrydstrup Air Base. The visit to Denmark is also part of a larger effort led by Yermak and former NATO Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen. They are presenting recommendations from an international working group to pave the way for Ukraine’s NATO membership. The working group proposes that Ukraine be invited to accession negotiations at NATO’s summit in Washington in July. Details regarding the upcoming meetings and the precise schedule for the delivery of the F-16 jets have not been disclosed yet.
