The Road Directorate (Vejdirektoratet) warns of intense traffic during the Pentecost holiday, especially on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning, when many Danes are expected to go on an extended weekend getaway to their summer houses. With Whit Monday as a public holiday, the Road Directorate predicts that many will take the opportunity to travel west, which could create heavy traffic on several main roads. On Friday between 1 PM and 7 PM, particularly high traffic is expected on the E20 motorway heading west and on route 21 towards Sjællands Odde. On Saturday, traffic will also be intense from 11 AM to 2 PM, especially near the summer house areas.
The Road Directorate recommends that motorists plan their journey outside of these times to avoid the worst congestion. Additionally, Royal Run will take place on Whit Monday in five Danish cities, further impacting traffic. In Fredericia, where E20 intersects with E47, extra pressure on traffic is anticipated from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM. Motorists are encouraged to anticipate possible delays and consider alternative routes or travel times. Therefore, the Road Directorate advises avoiding driving during the most congested times if possible to ensure a more pleasant journey for everyone.
