In Fredericia, the king will be running an English mile. Later, he will be running five and ten kilometers in Aarhus and Copenhagen. King Frederik has kicked off this year’s Royal Run in Fredericia by pressing a boat horn. The king himself will run an English mile, equivalent to approximately 1.6 kilometers, in the city. Later on Monday, he will run five kilometers in Aarhus and ten kilometers in Copenhagen. Last year, it took him 8 minutes and 13 seconds to run the distance of an English mile, according to TV 2. This year, the king also expects to break a sweat.
“We have reached a point where I need to have a happy day for myself and be surrounded by happy people who want the same as me. Get a little sweat on the forehead, but also a great joy,” he said to TV 2, shortly after arriving in Fredericia with the royal ship “Dannebrog”.
