Danish MEP demands Maximilian Krah to be kicked out of AfD. Now Krah is suspending his campaign. Maximilian Krah, the lead candidate for Alternative Für Deutschland (AfD) in the EU elections in June, is suspending his campaign activities and resigning from the party leadership. This is reported by the news agency Reuters. Maximilian Krah, who is also a current member of the European Parliament, stated to the Italian media La Repubblica that he “would never say that anyone wearing an SS uniform is criminal.” This statement has led Danish MEP for DF (Danish People’s Party) Anders Vistisen to demand his expulsion. DF is in the Identity and Democracy Group with AfD in the European Parliament. Likewise, the French Rassemblement National has stated that they cannot sit in a group with AfD as things stand now. According to Reuters, Krah said in an official statement that his statements are being misused to damage the party. “The last thing we need right now is a debate about me. AfD must maintain party unity,” he said in the statement according to Reuters. Anders Vistisen said on Tuesday that AfD has “extremist elements” in the party that need to be dealt with. Here Krah had crossed the line, the DF member indicated. If they clean up, it could enable cooperation again at some point, he said. “But you have to draw the same line when it comes to Holocaust denial, hopeless statements about Germany’s Nazi past, and cooperation with hostile states like China and Russia,” Vistisen said.
