An investigator (Kurator) is looking into whether internal emails at Nordic Waste were intentionally deleted prior to the company’s bankruptcy. In the weeks leading up to the bankruptcy declaration at Nordic Waste, thousands of internal emails were mysteriously deleted. Radio4 reports that Boris Frederiksen, a partner at the law firm Kammeradvokaten, and the trustee in bankruptcy, confirms this. The deleted emails have since been recovered and will now be part of a comprehensive investigation into the company and its former management. The investigation aims to determine whether the former management or ownership can be held accountable. “We do not yet know what they (emails) contain or are about,” says Boris Frederiksen. The case began to unfold when an environmentally hazardous landslide became publicly known in December last year, which was also the period when the internal emails were deleted. Kammeradvokaten has not yet determined whether the deletions were deliberate or due to an automatic deletion function. However, since it occurred so close to the bankruptcy petition on January 19 this year, the trustee will closely examine the circumstances surrounding the deletion.
