Sunday, King Frederik celebrated his 56th birthday with a grand celebration on Amalienborg, which included flags and community singing, as well as the release of a new stamp. The event marked King Frederik’s first birthday as the reigning monarch after taking over the throne from his mother, Queen Margrethe, in January. The celebration at Amalienborg attracted many people who showed up with the Danish flag to show their support and pay tribute to the king. From the balcony, King Frederik waved to the crowd, who responded with community singing and cheers.
In addition to the festive activities at Amalienborg, PostNord also commemorated King Frederik’s birthday and the Danish succession with the release of a new stamp. The stamp features the king and is part of PostNord’s long tradition of honoring new rulers in this manner. “At PostNord, we have a long and proud tradition of honoring new rulers on stamps, and we are therefore very pleased to be able to release a stamp with the King,” said PostNord’s Communications Director Andreas Brethvad in a press release on May 21.
