Residents send an important message in Husum
A group of citizens gathered Sunday evening for a torchlight procession in Husum. The purpose was to send a clear signal that weapons and violence do not belong in the neighborhood, after a tragic incident on Wednesday where a 15-year-old boy was stabbed to death. Initiator Tanwir Ahmad stated to Ritzau that the procession began at the bus stop Åfløjen and continued to Husum Torv. Many participants brought flowers to remember the deceased 15-year-old and to show their opposition to the increasing violence among young people in the area.
“This is not the first time we have experienced such an episode in Husum. The episodes are getting closer and closer, they are becoming more severe, and the citizens involved in them are getting younger and younger,” said Tanwir Ahmad.
The 15-year-old boy was killed at the bus stop on Frederikssundsvej opposite Humlebjerg. He arrived by bus and was attacked and stabbed in the chest when he got off. The boy ran away from the scene and collapsed near Åfløjen. Police have stated that a 14-year-old boy was wielding the knife. In addition, a 15-year-old boy was remanded in custody on Friday in connection with the case and is charged with serious assault.
