Unstable Weather Ahead for Denmark, Limited Sun Expected Until Weekend

If you want to go out and enjoy the sun this week, the best chances are on Monday afternoon. The week will bring rain and showers. It’s not another week of summer weather that Denmark is starting today. Instead, the weather will be unsettled, with periods of rain and showers. In fact, it seems that you’ll have to flip through the calendar for more than a week if you want to see stable sun again. That’s according to Hans Peter Wandler, a meteorologist at the Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI) early Monday morning. “The week may start nicely for most on Monday, but it will be a week with quite unsettled weather,” he says. For most, the week will start on Monday with cloudy weather and a few showers moving in from the south. During the day, the showers, which also pose a risk of thunder, will slowly move eastward before a clearing spreads from the southwest. This will result in some or a lot of sun for most by the afternoon – except for Bornholm, which will not see the clearing and will instead hold on to the showers. Looking ahead to Tuesday, another wet day looms, as Denmark will be visited by a new weather front, bringing rain and showers to almost the entire country. “Wednesday and Thursday will continue in the same vein with periods of rain and showers,” says Hans Peter Wandler. Temperature-wise, Denmark will also be a bit cooler this week than we have been accustomed to recently. Expect maximum temperatures of 19-20 degrees throughout the week, he reports. Friday could see temperatures creeping up to 21 degrees, but again, it will be a “mixed day” with some sun and local showers. “It may be that one day it rains in Jutland, while further east remains dry, but then it switches,” says Hans Peter Wandler. Overall, it looks like Monday afternoon is the time to aim for if you want to go out and enjoy the sun, the meteorologist says. “Otherwise, we’ll probably have to wait until next weekend for slightly better chances of sun and rising temperatures.”
