Danish law firm terminates partner for unethical behavior on TV

Law firm Horten has chosen to dismiss partner Nicolai Dyhr, who in a recent TV 2 documentary is seen in dialogue with criminal elements and advising them on fraud. The documentary is titled “The Black Swan”. According to Dyhr, he utilizes a strategy he refers to as the “eel trap method”, where he tries to gather as much information as possible from his clients by luring it out of them. Dyhr claims that this method is recognized and even mentions that the police use a similar approach. However, Horten’s management, represented by CEO Anders Bager Jensen, has sharply distanced themselves from Dyhr’s method and statements, which they believe do not align with the firm’s values. Horten denies any knowledge of or approval for the “eel trap method” and explains that it goes against what is expected of a lawyer with them. The decision to terminate the collaboration with Nicolai Dyhr is precisely due to these statements which, according to the CEO, are not compatible with the role of a lawyer and partner at Horten.
