Copenhagen’s Employment Mayor distances himself sharply from bikers’ abuse of early retirement pension Copenhagen’s Employment Mayor, Jens-Kristian Lütken (V), has announced an initiative to remove early retirement pensions from bikers. The statement comes in response to TV 2’s documentary ‘The Black Swan’, which reveals that members of the biker group Bandidos engage in criminal activities while receiving early retirement pensions. Lütken expresses his outrage at the revelations of the documentary: “This should definitely be stopped,” he says, emphasizing that individuals capable of committing crimes should also be able to perform regular work. “At the very least, they should not be supported by the public on an early retirement pension. That is for those who need it and are ill.” The documentary shows, among other things, a Bandidos biker who, despite being on early retirement, runs several businesses used for money laundering and illegal disposal of contaminated waste. Another biker, highlighted in the documentary, has not had a formal job since he was 22 years old but is a key figure in an extensive money laundering operation. The Mayor is now calling for legislative tools that can match the police’s register of individuals with biker and gang affiliations with the municipality’s register of early retirement pensioners. He emphasizes that participation in a gang itself involves criminal activity, which often includes drug trafficking or monitoring of illegal activities. In the Municipality of Copenhagen, efforts are already underway to examine what legal changes can make this proposal a reality. Lütken mentions that they may possibly reach out to the government to have the issue included in an upcoming biker or gang package, or as a standalone initiative. 365nyt.dk has tried to get a comment from Employment Minister Ane Halsboe-Jørgensen.
