Danish School Leadership Meets Reporting Obligations in Recent Investigation

In a recent investigation, the State Attorney (Kammeradvokaten) has concluded that the management at Borup Skole has fulfilled their duty to report in 22 out of 23 cases involving children. Køge Kommune (Køge Municipality) announced in a press release that the State Attorney found it necessary to highlight that the management should have prepared an action plan earlier for a specific class in order to comply with the requirements of the school environment law. The investigation, aimed at assessing the handling of a number of harassment cases among students in the lower grades, shows that the school management was continuously informed that in a specific class there was a learning environment where certain students were bullied or engaged in similar behavior. This situation spans from January 1, 2022, to February 26, 2024. The State Attorney has analyzed written material from 23 specific child cases and concluded that Borup Skole has fulfilled their duty to report in almost all cases. The only exception is one case where the duty was not fulfilled. However, the investigation did not determine whether there was actually violence or abuse at the school.
