The government is planning a tax rebate for young people under 18 to promote part-time jobs. The government has announced a new initiative to make it more attractive for young people under 18 to take on part-time jobs by giving them a tax rebate. The proposal involves exempting young people under 18 from paying labor market contributions, which is an eight percent tax that all employees in Denmark pay. Minister of Defense and Venstre party leader Troels Lund Poulsen stated to Avisen Danmark that this change is expected to increase the number of young people seeking part-time jobs. According to the minister, the exemption from labor market contributions will make it more attractive for young people to take on work, which could lead to more job opportunities for them in the future. “I believe that we will succeed in creating many more part-time jobs by making it more attractive to have a part-time job. That is what should motivate young people – that they can have various part-time jobs and that it can lead to other job opportunities later on,” said Troels Lund Poulsen. The proposed tax rebate is part of a larger initiative concerning part-time jobs, which the government is expected to announce next week.
