An internal document from Venstre (Right) now reveals new connections between the party’s EU candidate Alexandra Sasha and pro-Russian, Putin-friendly networks. This comes after 365nyt.dk reported on Sasha’s participation in several pro-Russian meetings with the European Russian Forum, meetings organized by an agent from the Russian intelligence service, FSB. The new information shows that Sasha’s involvement in the pro-Russian network is more extensive than initially thought. The internal Venstre document, which 365nyt.dk has seen, shows that Sasha attended six meetings with the European Russian Forum, not just two as previously stated. Sasha has not commented on the matter, and Venstre’s press service has not responded to inquiries. According to Russia expert Flemming Splidsboel, these new pieces of information are “certainly problematic.” Splidsboel has previously characterized the European Russian Forum as an “influence forum” for Russian interests. He states that Sasha’s multiple meeting attendances and board position in the forum’s youth organization further exacerbate the situation.
Sasha’s mother, Ekaterina Bessmertnaia, also has a central role in the pro-Russian network and has been active in the organization since at least 2011. Documents show that she is the Danish contact person for the EU Russian-speakers Alliance, which organizes the European Russian Forum, and has previously been treasurer for the European Russian Alliance. Additionally, 365nyt.dk reveals that Alexandra Sasha has met with Boris Titov, a close ally of Vladimir Putin. Sasha shared a picture of the meeting on Facebook, which she has since deleted. The picture was shared on December 2, 2017, and the meeting took place in connection with Titov’s visit to UCL School of Slavonic and East European Studies, where Sasha was studying.
Boris Titov has worked for Putin as Russia’s Commissioner for Entrepreneurship Rights since 2012 and is on several sanctions lists. According to The Anti-Corruption Foundation, founded by the late Putin critic Alexei Navalny, Titov acts as Putin’s frontman and is involved in corruption related to Putin’s properties. 365nyt.dk continues its efforts to obtain comments from Venstre on the matter.
