Aller Media receives 66 million for new audio universe for children. Media conglomerate Aller Media has secured 66 million Danish kroner in funding to develop a new public service audio universe aimed at children and young people. This new initiative, which is part of the media agreement for 2023-2026, was announced as the winner by the Danish Agency for Culture and Palaces in a press release.
The audio universe, named “HULiGENNEM,” is designed for children aged 3-13 and is expected to launch by the end of 2024. The permission to operate the audio universe runs until the end of 2026, with a total grant for the entire period amounting to 66 million kroner. According to Søren Sandfeld Jakobsen, chairman of the Radio and Television Board, Aller Media was chosen because they presented a well-developed, inclusive, and engaging concept that the board believed best met the objectives of the media agreement. “We believe that the audio universe will have a significant impact among children and young people,” he says.
The public service audio universe is expected to deliver 20 hours of programming each week and offer a wide range of original and relevant programs in categories such as news, society, culture, drama, entertainment, knowledge, and music. The content will be available for free and without advertisements through an app and a website.
Aller Media, known for publishing magazines such as Billed-Bladet, Femina, and Se og Hør, won the tender process ahead of three other applicants: Bundesen Management, Munck Studios Copenhagen, and Golittle. In total, the Radio and Television Board received four applications by the deadline on March 18 earlier this year.
This new audio universe is part of a larger strategy to offer quality content to children and young people in Denmark and ensure they have access to diverse and enriching media experiences.
