Pernille Bendixen, former member of the Danish Parliament for the Danish People’s Party, has chosen to join Nye Borgerlige (New Right). Bendixen, who represented the Danish People’s Party in the 2015-2019 parliamentary term, is the latest member with political experience to join Nye Borgerlige, according to a press release from the party. The party’s leader, Martin Henriksen, expresses pleasure at Bendixen’s joining. Henriksen and Bendixen share a history as colleagues in the Danish Parliament for the Danish People’s Party, which contributes to Henriksen’s positive expectations for their future collaboration. Henriksen also opens up to the possibility of more former Danish People’s Party members finding their way to Nye Borgerlige. He mentions being in ongoing dialogue with former colleagues from the Parliament, as well as representatives from other parties. In the press release, Pernille Bendixen states that one of her motivations for joining Nye Borgerlige is her respect for Martin Henriksen and their previous collaboration. “I have always appreciated Martin and my collaboration and have always believed that Martin is a skilled politician,” says Bendixen. In May, Carsten Kudsk, who has also been a temporary member of Parliament for the Danish People’s Party on several occasions, joined Nye Borgerlige. Bendixen herself was a temporary member of Parliament from December 2019 to September 2020 as a substitute for Alex Ahrendtsen. During her time in the Parliament, she held spokesperson positions related to children and culture. Pernille Bendixen, who is trained as a sales assistant, currently works as a driving instructor.
