Thousands gather in Copenhagen for climate march ahead of EU election

On Sunday afternoon, Copenhagen became the center of a large climate demonstration as the People’s Climate March gathered thousands of people to focus on the climate in connection with the upcoming EU election. The demonstration, aimed at raising awareness of the green transition among both citizens and political decision-makers, started at Christiansborg Slotsholmen at 1pm. After an hour, the procession began to move from Christiansborg Slotsholmen, passed Kongens Nytorv, and continued through the streets of Copenhagen. Demonstrators were equipped with signs and megaphones, and chants like “A green mandate commits. Prove you won’t fail” echoed through the city. In addition to Copenhagen, similar climate marches took place in six other Danish cities on the same day. According to the Climate Movement in Denmark, several thousand people attended the demonstrations. The organization also states that climate marches were simultaneously organized in 12 other European countries.
