Next year, the Copenhagen Marathon will be able to welcome 18,000 runners when the race takes place on Sunday, May 11, 2025 in Copenhagen. This is a significant increase from the 15,000 participants that were accommodated this year. The increased capacity is due to a huge demand for bib numbers for this year’s marathon, as stated in a press release by the organizer Sparta Atletik & Løb (Sparta Athletics & Running). Dorte Vibjerg, CEO of Sparta Atletik & Løb, stated that the focus is not only on increasing the number of participants but also on improving the organization, logistics, and the overall race experience.
“Therefore, we believe that it is realistic for the Copenhagen Marathon to move up to the league just below marathons like London, New York, and Paris,” said Dorte Vibjerg. Tickets for next year’s race will be available starting on Tuesday, June 4 at 12 o’clock.
