Copenhagen Municipality Warns of Fraudulent QR Codes on Parking Meters

The Municipality Reports Fraud with Fake QR Codes on Parking Meters
The Municipality of Copenhagen is facing a challenge with scammers who have stuck fake QR codes on several of the city’s parking meters. The fraud has been reported to the police, and the municipality is working quickly to remove the counterfeit stickers. Jesper Borch, unit manager in the technical and environmental administration, tells TV 2 Kosmopol that it is not possible to pay for parking via QR codes in the Municipality of Copenhagen. “I would therefore like to refer to using one of the app providers listed on the municipality’s website when paying for parking,” he told the media. The fake QR codes lead users to a website where they think they can pay for parking. Instead, the money goes to unknown culprits, and users risk giving their bank details to scammers. The municipality therefore urges all motorists to be extra vigilant and only use the official payment methods listed on the municipality’s website.
