King and Queen’s planned visit to the Faroe Islands threatened by strike action. Next week, the royal couple was scheduled to visit the Faroe Islands. However, an extensive strike may result in the trip being canceled. The strike, which has been ongoing for several weeks, threatens to put a stop to the Danish royal couple’s first official visit to the archipelago. According to the Faroese Prime Minister (lagmand), Aksel V. Johannesen, they are closely monitoring the situation regarding the planned visit, which is scheduled to take place from the 12th to the 14th of June. He stated this to the Faroese media outlet KVF. The Prime Minister emphasizes that if the strike continues into next week, the royal visit will be canceled. The Royal Household’s communications department currently has no comments on the planned trip and instead refers to the statements from the Faroese Prime Minister. The strike, which began in mid-May, has had far-reaching consequences in the Faroe Islands. Supermarkets have empty shelves, institutions are closed, and gas stations are running low on fuel.
