The funding for the reconstruction of Børsen has been secured – rebuilding will soon begin. After the tragic fire that destroyed Børsen on April 16, 2024, reconstruction has been eagerly discussed. Now, there is good news: The funding for the reconstruction is finally in place. Brian Mikkelsen, CEO of the Danish Chamber of Commerce, announced the news during a press conference at the National Museum’s warehouse in Vinge, where he also provided an update on the art objects saved during the fire.
“We have the funding in place. We have a close dialogue with the authorities regarding the cultural history, and everyone is playing very constructively. So I am very confident that we will start the reconstruction relatively soon,” said an excited Brian Mikkelsen. Before the fire, the Danish Chamber of Commerce had their offices in Børsen, and the same will be the case in the future once the building is rebuilt.
Although Mikkelsen cannot specify the exact start date of the reconstruction yet, there is a great deal of optimism. “We just need to finalize our dialogue with architects and advisors. But I feel good after the tragedy on April 16. I have a good feeling that we will have a beautiful exchange again,” he says.
It is clear that there is a strong emphasis on both financing and respect for the building’s cultural significance in the plans for the reconstruction.
