Lawyer Henrik Dupont Jørgensen, known for defending Britta Nielsen’s son among others, has passed away after battling cancer. Jørgensen’s wife confirmed the news to B.T. on Thursday, with his death occurring on Monday. In recent years, Henrik Dupont Jørgensen was part of the Stage Law Firm, led by Mette Grith Stage. Mette Grith Stage paid tribute to her former colleague and friend on Instagram. “Today, this magnificent person has peacefully passed away in his home,” she wrote, adding, “he, who has achieved so many victories in court, lost the battle against cancer.” In the post, she described Henrik Dupont Jørgensen as “a professional role model, a streetwise person, a bon vivant, a bundle of joy, a thoughtful individual, a cherished colleague, and friend.” Henrik Dupont Jørgensen garnered significant media attention when he served as the defense attorney for Jimmy Jamil Hayat, Britta Nielsen’s son. During a live TV interview, Jørgensen inadvertently broke the court order regarding his client’s anonymity by mentioning his name, resulting in a fine of 5000 Danish kroner. The renowned lawyer Erbil Kaya also expressed his grief over Henrik Dupont Jørgensen’s death in a post on LinkedIn, where he referred to him as his mentor. “With his untimely passing, defense attorneys have lost one of the greatest and best – not only professionally, but also as a human being. And I have lost a mentor forever,” wrote Kaya.
