Danish Prime Minister assaulted in Copenhagen, suspect arrested swiftly

Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen experienced a shocking incident at Kultorvet on Friday evening. An unpleasant event occurred where the Prime Minister was hit by a man. According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, the Prime Minister is deeply shocked by the incident. The incident was quickly followed by the arrest of the individual. Copenhagen Police have confirmed the incident to Ritzau, but have no further comments at this time. The information about the incident comes at a time when Mette Frederiksen has been active in campaign activities with the Social Democrats’ EU lead candidate, Christel Schaldemose, ahead of the upcoming EU parliamentary elections. Christel Schaldemose has stated to Ritzau that the incident did not take place in connection with her campaign activities.
