Both SF (Socialist People’s Party) and the Social Democrats can look forward to securing three seats in the upcoming EU Parliament, according to the latest projections by DR and TV 2. The projections indicate that SF has achieved the largest share of the vote among Danish parties in the EU election. SF is estimated to receive between 17.2 and 17.6 percent of the votes according to DR and TV 2, respectively. A projection is an extrapolated analysis based on polling station measurements, counted votes, as well as data from polls and is therefore not the final result. But if the projections are correct, both SF and the Social Democrats will be able to send three representatives to Brussels. This is an improvement for SF, which obtained two seats in the 2019 election, while the Social Democrats got three. In the 2019 election, SF received 13.2 percent of the votes, making the current projection a significant improvement. The projection has sparked celebrations at SF’s election party, where screens display the promising numbers. SF’s tax spokesperson, Simon Agersnap, expresses joy over the preliminary results. “We are happy in here. It’s a fantastic result for SF if it ends up being the final result,” he tells TV 2 News. He adds, “The most important thing for me is that we get three seats in Brussels. It’s 17.2 percent, historically significant for SF.” Fifteen Danish seats are up for election in the EU Parliament, which consists of a total of 720 members. The final results, including the individual vote counts, are expected to be announced on Monday. Source:
