Frederik Bloch Münster ready for Parliament if Niels Flemming Hansen triumphs at EU election. Frederik Bloch Münster has been a close aide to the Conservative Party’s lead candidate for the EU parliamentary election, Niels Flemming Hansen, since February. Should Hansen secure the party’s one seat in the EU Parliament, Münster will take his place in the Danish Parliament. Niels Flemming Hansen, who was elected to the Danish Parliament for the South Jutland district, has had Frederik Bloch Münster as his special advisor during the election campaign. Münster is the first substitute in the district and will step in if Hansen moves to Brussels.
“It has been a fantastic experience. Often you think that your own success requires others’ failure, but Niels Flemming and I have created a situation where we both win when we win,” says Frederik Bloch Münster. Personal vote totals are expected to be announced later on Monday, and only then can the Conservatives confirm Niels Flemming Hansen’s move to the EU Parliament and Münster’s entry into the Danish Parliament. However, according to Münster, the forecasts look promising. In Sunday’s election, the Conservatives obtained 8.8% of the votes, an increase of 2.6 percentage points compared to the 2019 EU election. This result secures one seat for the party, expected to go to Hansen.
Frederik Bloch Münster and Niels Flemming Hansen have a long history of collaboration. From 2016 to 2020, Münster worked as a student assistant for the Conservative Party. “You could say that we, as conservative people, like good incentive structures,” notes Münster with a smile. Münster expresses his readiness to enter the Danish Parliament: “I am so ready. I stand on the sidelines with shin guards on and I am ready,” he says. Niels Flemming Hansen has been a member of the Danish Parliament since 2019 and currently serves as the chairman of the European Affairs Committee as well as the party’s EU and Europe spokesperson.
