Denmark Democrats secure significant victory in North Jutland at EU Parliament election. In the recent European Parliament election, Inger Støjberg’s party, the Denmark Democrats, has established itself as a strong player, especially in North Jutland. The party, which is new on the scene and has never before run in a European Parliament election, has now been represented with one seat. The election results, provided by the IT company KMD, show that the Denmark Democrats have garnered the most support in several North Jutland constituencies, including Skive, Thisted, and Mariagerfjord.
In the Mariagerfjord constituency, where Inger Støjberg herself resides in Hadsund, the party secured 22 percent of the votes. For comparison, Venstre obtained 16.5 percent of the votes in the same constituency, which is a decrease of 18.2 percentage points compared to the 2019 election. Also, in the Skive and Thisted constituencies, the Denmark Democrats achieved solid results with 20.4 and 19.9 percent of the votes, respectively. In these areas, Venstre experienced a significant decline of 15.4 and 21.3 percentage points.
The Denmark Democrats’ progress was also evident in the surrounding constituencies. In the Himmerland constituency, the party received 18.6 percent of the votes, placing them close to Venstre, which was the largest party with 23.5 percent of the votes. In the Brønderslev constituency, where the Social Democrats led with 19.7 percent of the votes, the Denmark Democrats surpassed Venstre by obtaining 19.2 percent compared to Venstre’s 18.8 percent. This significant advancement for the Denmark Democrats indicates a substantial upheaval in the political landscape in North Jutland and demonstrates strong support for Inger Støjberg’s new party.
