The new Danish members of the EU Parliament have been found. All personal votes have been counted, and the distribution of the 15 Danish seats in the EU Parliament is in place. The result shows that eight new members will represent Denmark, while seven members are returning from the previous term. This has been confirmed after the completion of the counting on Monday evening according to KMD (an IT company in Denmark). Denmark has 15 seats in the EU Parliament for the upcoming term.
Although the distribution of seats among parties has been known, it was only after the counting of personal votes that it became clear which candidates secured the seats. The Social Democrats and the Liberal Party have chosen to continue with their former representatives; the Social Democrats with three seats and the Liberal Party with two. However, it is the first time that the Moderates are participating in an EU parliamentary election. The party has had representation in the parliament since March 2023, when Bergur Løkke Rasmussen switched from the Liberal Party to the Moderates. Bergur Løkke Rasmussen was number two on the Moderates’ list after lead candidate Stine Bosse. With 86,888 personal votes, Stine Bosse secured a seat in the parliament.
With this result, it is clear which politicians will represent Denmark in the EU Parliament in the upcoming term.
