The government aims to improve conditions for Danish entrepreneurs through a new entrepreneurship strategy, which will be presented on Wednesday morning. According to information from TV 2, the strategy includes tax cuts worth a total of 400 million Danish kroner. The strategy, which was initially supposed to be presented last year, was postponed but is now ready to be announced.
One of the key elements of the strategy is changes in capital gains tax. The threshold for when capital gains tax must be paid is raised to around 80,000 Danish kroner. Below this threshold, a 27 percent tax rate applies. Currently, the threshold is 61,000 Danish kroner, with the same 27 percent tax rate applied. In addition, the government proposes raising the threshold for deducting losses for newly established companies. This threshold will be increased from the current 9.5 million kroner to around 20 million kroner.
The government has already announced an annual allocation of one billion kroner from 2030 to the entrepreneurship sector. This is in addition to the 1.5 billion kroner already allocated for the period 2024-2027. The strategy will be presented on Wednesday at 09:30 with the participation of Minister for Business Affairs Morten Bødskov (Social Democrats), Minister for Economic Affairs Stephanie Lose (Venstre), Minister for Culture Jakob Engell-Schmidt (Conservatives), and Minister for Taxation Jeppe Bruus (Social Democrats).
The Ministry of Business Affairs emphasizes in a press release the importance of improving conditions for Danish entrepreneurs who fight daily for the success of their businesses. “It is the creativity and drive that Denmark thrives on,” the ministry writes. The leader of Venstre (Liberal Party), Troels Lund Poulsen, announced on Tuesday “significant tax cuts” in connection with the strategy, without going into details.
The CEO of the Confederation of Danish Industry, Brian Mikkelsen, is also looking forward to the government’s proposal, calling it “very positive things.”
