The Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI) issued a warning on Tuesday morning about heavy rain, which will especially hit Bornholm and Jutland. According to DMI’s website, there is a risk of significant amounts of precipitation that can significantly impact these areas throughout the day. In Bornholm, the rainy weather is due to a low-pressure system moving from the southwest across the island during the morning and forenoon. This low-pressure system can result in heavy showers, potentially accompanied by thunder, where local rainfall amounts may exceed 24 millimeters within six hours. This level meets the criteria for heavy rain. In central and northern Jutland, the day will start drier, with the possibility of periods of clearing. The temperature is expected to rise to around 18 degrees, which can create unstable weather conditions. As the day progresses, this can lead to the formation of heavy rain and thunderstorms, with expected rainfall amounts between 15 and 30 millimeters. DMI emphasizes that there is not much wind expected with the showers, which means the rain may feel more persistent than the typical brief showers. The uncertainty about the intensity and duration of the rainfall is greater than usual, making it difficult to predict the exact consequences. If the rain lasts longer, the sewage systems may become overloaded, leading to flooding in streets and roads. Therefore, it is important for residents in the affected areas to be prepared and keep an eye on the weather forecasts for the rest of the day.
