Energinet is urged to increase preparedness for the energy sector. The Danish Energy Agency has requested Energinet to raise the sector readiness for the energy sector from green to yellow, indicating a medium threat. According to the Danish Energy Agency, this change reflects that there are actors with both the capacity and intent to carry out attacks or other harmful activities, although there are no specific indications of planned attacks. This recommendation follows a recent update of the threat level for destructive cyber attacks, where authorities raised the level from low to medium. During a press conference on June 4 with Minister of Defense Troels Lund Poulsen (V) and Thomas Flarup from the Center for Cyber Security, it was emphasized that such attacks can cause serious and intangible consequences. Minister of Climate, Energy, and Utilities Lars Aagaard (M) stated in a written comment that the updated threat assessments emphasize the importance of protecting energy infrastructure. Therefore, he considers it a natural response to increase preparedness in the electricity and gas sectors to yellow.
