“The government presents ambitious strategy for entrepreneurs
On Wednesday, the government presented a new and ambitious strategy for entrepreneurs, the first since 2020. The strategy has been in the works for a long time, with over 1300 days passing since the idea was first put forward by the Social Democrats. According to Minister of Business Morten Bødskov, the delay is primarily due to the coronavirus pandemic, which has taken time and resources. “Hopefully, it has not escaped anyone’s attention that we have had a coronavirus pandemic that took time and got in the way,” Bødskov stated at a press conference on Wednesday. “Now we have a broad government launching the most ambitious entrepreneurship strategy ever presented.”
The original idea was announced by then-Minister of Business Simon Kollerup in August 2020, where he called for negotiations to strengthen the framework for Danish entrepreneurs. Since then, the proposal has been postponed several times, but Bødskov emphasizes that there have been no significant challenges other than the pandemic. “I don’t think there have been many challenges. There has been a great willingness for the government to come together to want to lift the original proposal that was on the drawing board,” he says.
At the press conference, several ministers highlighted that the proposal has become more comprehensive over time, and the tax cuts have become more generous. Minister of Taxation Jeppe Bruus stated: “Some think it has been a long time coming. On the other hand, it has grown with more initiatives and more money. I hope the wait has been worth it for those who have been impatient.”
Bødskov also emphasized that entrepreneurship is the only area where money is allocated directly in the government basis. Originally, 300 million Danish kroner were allocated, but this amount has now grown to over 1.1 billion kroner from 2030 onwards. “The Danish economy is doing well, and we have found significantly more funds to be able to do something about entrepreneurship,” he said.
The proposal will now be negotiated with the other parties in the Folketing (Parliament).”
