TV 2 has corrected information in the crime program “Skyggesiden” after it was discovered that information about the security company Guardian was factually incorrect. The crime program “Skyggesiden – Den sorte svane”, which aired on Wednesday, has now removed the criticism of Guardian. This has been confirmed by TV 2’s news editor Jakob Kwon to the media outlet Journalisten.
Jakob Kwon explains that the program had already been released on TV 2 Play when TV 2 was made aware of the errors. After reviewing the program again, TV 2 acknowledged that the information was incorrect and therefore it was edited out. The program “Skyggesiden” discusses criminal cases, and in a documentary in the same series, “Den sorte svane”, it is revealed that a businessman, who is also the director of Guardian, has close ties to high-profile rockers. These pieces of information are still correct and have not been altered. Guardian was actually hired to protect the main source and whistleblower, Amira Smajic’s security.
After the broadcast of “Skyggesiden”, TV 2 received a message from Guardian pointing out that the information in the program was inaccurate. The hosts Janni Pedersen and Carsten Norton reportedly presented the factually incorrect information, according to TV 2. Journalisten has attempted to obtain a comment from Guardian, but the security company has chosen not to respond.
The documentary “Den sorte svane”, which was released on May 28 on TV 2 Play, contains hidden recordings showing collaboration between rockers, gang members, lawyers, and businessmen to launder money and avoid taxes. The documentary led to political actions, including a meeting between the government parties and a proposal to strengthen control on money laundering through client accounts. Minister of Justice Peter Hummelgaard (S) has also requested the police to tally the number of gang members on disability pension.
