Three of Five Beach Stairs at Møns Klint Reopened After Storm

Three staircases to the beach at Møns Klint are now accessible again. Following an extensive storm surge in October that destroyed several staircases at Møns Klint, visitors now have the opportunity to access the beach once more. The Danish Nature Agency (Naturstyrelsen) announced in a press release that three out of the five staircases have been restored. Access to the beach was limited during the winter months and early spring due to several major landslides, which also delayed the repair work.

The newly reopened staircases are named “Gråryg,” “Jydelejetrappen,” and “Maglevands Fald.” However, “Liselund” and “Røde Udfald” are not yet ready for use. “Liselund” is located in an area with a lot of sand, while “Røde Udfald” requires restructuring before it can reopen. The summer period is particularly busy for visitors to Møns Klint, located on the eastern part of Møn. With a height of 128 meters, the highest point of the cliff is also the highest in Denmark. The cliff is made up of chalk, which covers large parts of Denmark.
