If you were hoping for classic summer weather this weekend, it’s a good idea to adjust your expectations. The People’s Meeting on Bornholm is shaping up to be a wet affair, according to Mette Zhang, the duty meteorologist at the Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI). Friday starts with cloudy weather and showers, with temperatures ranging from 14 to 18 degrees Celsius. However, there is a chance that the clouds may give way to some sunshine here and there, especially further east one goes. Bornholm, where the People’s Meeting takes place, may therefore see fewer raindrops than the rest of the country.
Sadly, Saturday looks to be even wetter, with a risk of 20-30 millimeters of rain locally from morning to evening. Temperatures will be between 14 and 17 degrees Celsius, and there may be a lot of local variation in where the rain falls. DMI is considering issuing a warning. This day will also be windy, especially along the coasts, where the wind can reach gale force. Sunday looks somewhat better than Saturday, but rain and showers will still dominate the weather, although in smaller amounts. The eastern regions can expect some sun in the morning, while it will be cloudier towards the west.
For those longing for warm and sunny summer weather, it may be around Midsummer’s Eve (Sankt Hans) before we can expect an improvement. However, Mette Zhang emphasizes that weather forecasts can change many times before then.
